MacPro 2019 shutdown after external USB drive connect in VMware Fusion 15.1 Trial

Just trying to install Win 10 Pro on Mac Pro 2019 (7.1) via VMware Fusion 11.5.1 Trial Version. After connect of an external USB drive (SATA SSD with SATA-USB-C adapter) via USB/TB back connector the MacPro 2019 shuts down. Fans at max after restart. After SMC reset ok again. But another shutdown after 2nd trial to connect USB drive via top USB/TB connector. USB drive works normal in MacOS.

Any idea what to do or isn't VMware optimized for Mac Pro 7.1 yet? Even in this case a shut down should not occur

Ouch, well that's not good.

We're waiting on our orders to get delivered, so I haven't had the chance yet to try myself.

Does it persist with any USB device, or just that particular one?

The issue occurred with a drive which worked well under macOS before.
Finally I completely uninstalled (incl. kext) and reinstalled VMWare Fusion. So far no shut down.

Thanks for the follow up.

Did you migrate another Mac, or did you originally install Fusion from a fresh download?
