Upgrading OS on existing VMWare Worstation image

I am using VMWare WorkStation 15.5 and I have a Windows 10 Pro Image I created. The question is:

Can I upgrade Only the OS on this image from Windows 10 to Windows Server 2016 Standard??? I have a bunch of stuff on the Windows 10 image including activations that I don't want to loose.

Does anybody know if I can Upgrade the OS on the image without starting from scratch?????

Your help or answer is greatly appreciated!

Christian

Thats really a microsoft question but i find it extremely unlikely there would be an upgrade path from a desktop OS to a server OS, you may just need to create a new image
