"writable_type=" entry in snapvol.cfg

I have noticed that in recent App Volumes versions a "writable_type" variable has been added to the snapvol.cfg config with a possble value of "profile" or "uia".

Is this a mandatory variable, and what does this variable do? What are the possible implications when this variable is missing or falsely configured?

I am using an snapvol.cfg file from an older version in several writable volumes, but this variable is not present in the snapvol.cfg files on those volumes.

Your best bet would be to ask GSS but I can try and shed some light into it but still just assuming stuff here Smiley Happy

In the older versions the only difference between UIA and UIA + Profile was the fact that the c:\Users directory was excluded (in the UIA only that is). It could well be that this exclusion is no longer there and they use this variable now, not 100% sure to be honest...

@Ray_handels

Thanks for the info!

I have checked the latest 2.18 snapvol.cfg for UIA only and the exclusion is still there: "exclude_path=\Users"
