Intel IRIS 655 passthru - ESXi6.5

Hi All,

I can't seem to get the pass through for a intel iris 655 to work on ESXi 6.5, this is on an Intel NUC.

Interestingly the PCI device is showing as "Intel(R) VGA compatible controller" rather than Intel IRIS 655. On a Windows 10 installation it does detect Intel IRIS 655 but give the exclamation mark saying the device isn't working.

I've also tried an Ubuntu install that just doesn't seem to start up.

I've set the SVGA setting to FALSE and the console is no longer displayed.

Any pointers what to try next?

After a bunch of googling I finally found the solution to this! I have a nuc too and finally got it working using TheFunk35's reply in this (NVIDIA Driver passthrough (error core 43) ) thread. It's about nvidia but seems to work for intel integrated graphics as well. Hopefully this helps someone searching for the problem in the future!

Also, for posterity the gist is add

hypervisor.cpuid.v0 = "FALSE"

pciHole.start = "2048"

to your Advanced config on the VM.
