I crwated a RAID 1 using 1 SSD disks on a Dell r640. createa vmfs datastore but shows as non ssd in vsphere
any idea why?
Because RAID controllers abstract away physical details of the media pooled underneath them. This is the correct behavior.
It's absolutely normal and usual matter in front of datastore that has an SSD disk. However, if you are ensured about the type of disks, you change it. I explained how to do it in the following post:
Undercity of Virtualization: Change datastore's disk type that is not detected as an SSD disk
