VMware ESXI 6.5 U3
4 ESXI Hosts on Dell Power Edge R430 Gen 13
I ran the set up on HA and the cloning of my VCSA got to 96 %
The peer vcsa was created
Then my Vcenter stopped working Nagios checks my VCSA and it reported it as down
I was unable to ping.
I connected to my ESXI host running the VCSA using powercli
restarted the VM VCSA
After vcenter caome back online my peer as orphaned.
I removed it from inventory.
How to implement HA the best method.?
Any ideas on this?
Thank you
Tom
Cloning a Passive or Witness VM for a VCHA deployment to the same NFS 3.1 datastore as the source Active node VM fails. You must use NFS4 or clone the Passive and Witness VMs to a datastore different from the Active VM.
Need more info. Can you upload vpxd and vcha logs.
What is the datatsore that you are using?? (VMFS5 / NFS 3,...)
vjay
I have NFS 3 VMFS 5 and VMFS 6
The VMFS 5 and 6 are internal SSD and IDE storage
All my VMs are on the NFS 3 storage
My current VCSA is on NFS03 a NFS 3 type storage
I started the HA process and selected NFS5 for the peer and NFS2 for the witness both are NFS 3 drives.
Should I use the VMFS 5 or 6?
How do I get the vpxd and vcha logs downloaded to my desktop so I can upload them?
I have powercli here
Thank you
vcha on NFS 3 has its own limitations. Let me look it up in VMware docs.

Vijay,
Would it be better to vmotion my VCSA to the internal datastores that are VMFS6
The run the HA
Point the peer and witness to separate VMFS 6 datastores.
After that completes successfully then I can vmotion them to my external NFS 3 drives
Thoughts.
Yes that is a better option.
Vijay
It worked moving the VCSA to internal VMFS 5 /6
I have to Vcenters and it worked on both Now HA up and running
One other question.
On the peer and witness VCSA two Network adapaters were assigned.
One adapter used the IP address I assigned during the setup
The other network adapter is my question
On the Peer and the Witness the second network adapter are assigned the same ip address and my Meraki is reporting ip address conflict
!, should I change them to static addresses?
2. How do I do that?
is it using the web interface for vcsa?
Thank you
Tom
Vijay
Got it working all good now.
Had to reset the ip addresses and found this article to do it with
https://vmware.github.io/photon/assets/files/html/3.0/photon_admin/setting-a-static-ip-address.html
I'm not sure why this was such a PITA to find but there is a VMware workaround for this:
https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/50121880
This worked and got me thru the 6.7 vCenter HA deployment.
Enjoy...Chris
