According to the link that you've posted you may open support cases through email, phone, or online for the mentioned period of time.

Online support cases can be opened from your My VMware portal, on which the product is registered.

VMTN on the other side is a user forum which can be used anytime, and where you will get help from other users for almost every issue.

You got me on this one. I actually can't tell you whether this is possible, because I never did this.

Anyway, what happens if you try to open a request?

on the page where you select a registered product, nothing is listed.

this article says you can register if you buy from a reseller, but the free workstation isn't 'sold'. The article links back to my link in my OP above.
