Nic Team Failback question

Really simple question I know

We have two nics in a team with the config of route based on original virtual port

Both Nics are set to active/active

We also have the failover order set to  failback

My question is do the failover order configuration apply when the nics are set to active/active or do they only apply when it is set to active/passive

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Think of it, there are two uplink connected to vswitch. One of these 2 uplink goes to A switch and one goes to B switch. When A physical switch is down, traffic is transferred to B. If you mark failback as yes, traffic is transferred back to the uplink to which the physical switch A is connected. If you say no, traffic continues to pass through the existing uplink.

In short, failback works in all vmnic modes. Active / Active or Active / Passive will not be a problem. An option to return to the failing uplink.

When both of that uplinks are active, if one of them is gone, the other active uplink will handle network transmission. So it means failover procedure works too.

Now let's suppose you choose to failback, after repair / recovery of that failed uplink, it will back to the circle and will continue to transmit the network traffics again.
