It depends on business requirement , would you use thin or thick for vm?

Would you use SDRS

what is vm size which will be run on DS.

What I would look at is:

  • If a volume gets corrupted or disappears, what is the risk/cost?
  • What kind of downtime can I incur when I need to restore in the case a volume disappears?

I think those 2 are probably key. you can go up to 63TB, but if it takes 16 days to restore that may not be wise.
