Recent 6.5U3 update causing i350 NICs to 'flap'

    JamesMcG Lurker

I recently updated my vmware hosts from 6.5 U1 to U3. The hosts are Dell R620 with Intel i350-t4 NICs. For the most part all is well, but I have two hosts with frequent flapping (link down/up). Anyone else come across this?

I should mention one host is in an offsite DC so I haven't changed the patch cable. The other host however I've changed the patch cable, patch panel location, switch port...

          Hi,

I've had a similar problem before. Did you use dell custom iso when upgrading ESXi?

I solved a similar problem with the firmware update. Can you check the driver and firmware versions?

I did use the Dell custom ISO yes. I'll find the driver and fw versions and report back!

Then I'm seeing versions 17.x and 15.x for firmware on the two affected NICs. Current version is 24.2.
