Version mismatch with vmmon module: expecting 385.0, got 360.0.

Had an error upgrading to 11.5 Fusion, so downloaded the full version from the website and reinstalled.

Now getting this error when I try to start a VM. Am running the Catalina Beta.

Have also tried the idea that are over a year old in the forum and they fail as apparently Catalina has moved items.

The issue is that the old kernel extensions are loading.

Make sure Fusion isn't configured to launch when your desktop comes up.

Reboot.

Don't launch Fusion, drag it to the trash.

Reboot again.

When it comes back up, re-install from the .dmg.

Fusion won't load kexts if it doesn't run, but if it does and can't unload them for some reason, they'll stick around after dragging the app to the trash.

So you have to trash it when the extensions aren't loaded and then re-install.

(note this doesn't affect your VMs at all)

Try dragging the app to the trash, empty it reboot, and reinstall.

None of the previous workaround should be needed - 11.5 has catalina support.

This fixed the issue for me on MacOS Catalina (official release).

I somehow can't get my VM to run now though? It's stuck on the Windows screen and nothing is happening? Anyone else having this issue? Could be just me but thought I'd ask anyways.

Thank you for assisting me with this exact problem. I thought I would lose my Windows 10 VM if I deleted VMWare. I followed your dorections and everything is now woeking fine.

Thank you

Tom

I'm having the same issue: iMac Pro (base unit config), macOS Catalina 10.15.3.

Here's the msg when trying to open any of my VMs (Win10 or ElementaryOS).

Version mismatch with vmmon module: expecting 385.0, got 360.0.

I have as suggested in this thread deleted the Vmware installation and reinstalled. Same situation. Any other suggestions?

Make sure you do the reboot steps (and do all of this as an administrator account)

- reboot and make sure you uncheck the 'reopen last windows' option!

- drag Fusion to the trash

- empty trash

- reboot

- empty trash

- reinstall
