Autoconnecting USB devices stopped working

Since upgrading to VMware Player 15.5.0 build-14665864 on Windows 10 Pro, autoconnecting USB devices doesn’t work anymore.  I get an “unknown error”.  Furthermore, sometimes all USB devices disappear from the list of removable devices in the menu. I then have to restart Windows. None of these issues existed with the version of VMware Player that I previously had installed.

Here’s what I have in my “vmx” file (Linux VM):

usb.autoConnect.device0 = "0x04e6:0xe003"

usb.autoConnect.device1 = "0x0525:0xa4a2"

usb.autoConnect.device3 = "0x0b6a:0x003c"

usb.autoConnect.device4 = "0x0b6a:0x4402"

To be able to access the devices, I have to remove the above lines and then manually add devices using the menu.

Is there any workaround? Or should I wait for the next bugfix release?

Am I the only with this problem? How do I report this as a bug?

I came here to ask the same question...
Previous versions of VMplayer "remembered" what devices were connected at shutdown, and reconnected to them on restart. V15.5 does not do this.
Most awkward when your VM's are "auto start on host boot" and fail to connect to various USB sensors and printers.....

Now that I've found it's not just me that effected, I'm going to report it as a bug. I suggest you do to. Smiley Wink
