VM Lagging via connecting with VMware Horizon Client

    jainankit2474 Lurker

We have 20 members those are using VMware Horizon Client to connect to our Virtual Machine on the same Network. From past few days, we are facing VM lagging issue frequently for a Specific user approximately twice/thrice in a day. After deleting the Temp files created by VMware Horizon Client in Temp folders in the local system. Sometimes the issue was resolved.

Note: Our IT Team already checked local System Bandwidth. There is no issue in local system end.

Please provide any free tool or Utility that can trace the issue or provide us a better way to understand the problem.

          Hello jainankit2474
I have a few questions in order to assis you?

          - Is the user connecting locally or remotely?
          - How is your environment set up?
          - Can you tell the horizon view versions? (Connection server, View Agent, VMware tools, Horizon client)

          - Are you using Thin Clients or Horizon View client on Windows/Linux?
          - Is this a Dedicated or floating environment?
          - What does user see? A black screen? Poor performance? Mouse dragging?

          Have you tried the following?

          - Logging user from another Client
          - Put the VM in Mintenance and log the user to another VDI and check performance

          - Rebooting the VM
          - (in case it's a floating environment) Recompose the VDI

Looking forward to hearing from you

          Regards

            Hi nachogonzalez,

Please see below Inline response for your questions:

            - Is the user connecting locally or remotely?

jainankit2474: We are connecting from the local system to the virtual machine via VMware Horizon Client.

            - How is your environment set up?

jainankit2474: We have the local system, that is installed Windows 10 with the latest version. We have installed the VMWare Horizon client to connect with our VM. (server: vo.horizon.vmware.com)

            - Can you tell the horizon view versions? (Connection server, View Agent, VMware tools, Horizon client)

            jainankit2474: VMware Horizon Client, Version: 5.1.0 build-14045148

            - Are you using Thin Clients or Horizon View client on Windows/Linux?

            jainankit2474: Horizon Client on Windows.

            - Is this a Dedicated or floating environment?

            jainankit2474: It's a dedicated environment.

            - What does user see? A black screen? Poor performance? Mouse dragging?

jainankit2474: Poor performance. Lagging on a screen.

            Have you tried the following?

            - Logging user from another Client.
jainankit2474: Already tried. Sometimes issue resolve when we use a different machine.

            - Put the VM in Maintenance and log the user to another VDI and check the performance

jainankit2474: How Can I do it?

            - Rebooting the VM
            jainankit2474: Yes tried it also.

            - (in case it's a floating environment) Recompose the VDI.
            jainankit2474: Dedicated environment.

              Disregard

              - Rebooting the VM
              jainankit2474: Yes tried it also.

My conclussion is that the issue is on horizon client and not on the horizon infrastructure.
The question that lead me to thin this is that if the customer connects from another client the issue does not apprear.

              Why don't you try this:

              - Take a reference client that is working fine (lets call it client A)
              - Take the troublesome client (lets call it client B)

              1. Check Client software and drivers configuration:

              2. Log in to virtual machine with client A

              3. Check performance monitor of client (CPU, Memory, Network and IOPS) try perfmon /res
              4. Take a look at horizon client logs Horizon Client for Windows Logs

Repeat steps 1-4 with client B and check for any differences

Looking forward to hearing from you
