Workstation 15 extra mouse buttons don't work

We just upgraded 2 of our laptops to Workstation Pro 15.1 from 12.5.  When we opened our existing VMs we had the link 'upgrade this virtual machine' and a prompt to install/reinstall/upgrade? VMWare Tools, both of which we did.  The laptops have a Logitech MX AnyWhere mouse.  In the VM's, left & right-click and the scroll wheel work but the extra buttons that work on the host do not.  Any help would be appreciated!

We tried editing the .vmx file and nothing changed.  In the part about reassigning mouse buttons, the commands mentioned appear to be linux commands.  We're using Windows 10 in the host & Windows 7 in the VM.

None of the solutions have worked for us. Host is Win10. VM is Win7. Mouse is Logitech M510. The mouse buttons all worked fine with Workstation 12. This needs to be fixed.
