VMware workstation is compatible with Windows XP
Try to install them manually:
- From VMware Workstation 15 installation, in the "C: Program Files (x86), VMware Workstation" folder, mount the ISO file "WinPreVista.ISO"
This file is compatible with Windows XP:
- Mount file ISO
- Open the folder and copy all file in the virtual machine with windows XP, and proceed with the normal installation of the .exe file.
This is an alternative solution to your problem. The procedure is working.
Thank you, but where can I get the ISO file? I don't have a CD...I'm pretty sure I never have.
I have seen that the vmware tools 10.1.3.2 are compatible with Windows XP, you can download them from here and install them directly from the virtual machine.
Download the file, then unzip it and install "WinPreVista.ISO"
Mount this file "WInPreVista.iso" and copy all the files contained in the virtual machine, then proceed to install the appropriate "setup.exe" or "setup64.exe file.
Thank you. I downloaded the zip and extracted it, but I don't know how to use it. Is this purposely arcane?
