Hello, I'm trying to obtain information about which disks are used in our ESXi, but all I get is information about the RAID controller and our RAID array. Is there any way how to access information about those HDDs without restarting it to BIOS?
The answer is no, you cannot get this when the disks are behind a RAID volume.

Hi molitann
You can open the ESXi web browser or client console and you can see which storage devices the host usage.
I tried that ofc, all I can see is info about the RAID array
What are your server vendor and product name?
It's Supermicro Superserver with 2x Xeon E5-2690 v4, MOBO is Supermicro X10DRi-LN4+. Can't find any model number or something more specific about its name.
Methods I tried so far: vcenter, ipmi, ipmitool, esxi cli
If you are looking for detailed information like serial number/part number etc of the disk , I dont think ESXi will capture that... you can just see the make and model of the HDD at ESXi level. To get detailed information you have to check in BIOS or check the product documentations or check with supermicro if they have any script or steps to capture the information from the ipmi.
I don't have a licence fort that.
I just need the manufacturer and mode number, but all I can see is my raid aray and raid controller.
I know its in BIOS, but I can't restart that server.
esxcli storage core device list
above command will give you the vendor and model information.
As I said three times now, I can only see the raid array
Sorry, you are right. I overlooked. It shows RAID controller as model.
