I am new to this, so please excuse me for possibly posting in the wrong format.
The problem:
VMware workstation starts normally, windows XP pro startup sounds are there. But once you open a program the sound card disconnects and VMware gives the following error.
My setup is:
Host: Windows 10 64-bit
Guest: Windows XP Professional 32-bit
VMware: Workstation 15.1.0 build-13591040
Example program to be opened: Red alert 3 - Origin
What I have tried:
- Updating every possible driver.
- Trying to connect again to the sound card -- gives the understanding error.
- Restarted and reinstalled the virtual machine + programs.
- Looked on the FAQ and other question sites as well as in the documentation. - Documentation mentions to remove and add the sound card again. (Also a failure)
- Tried different settings for the sound card in workstation as well as settings for the host Operating System.
