Everytime I try to change desktop pool settings, I get a "Could not validate NIC settings, Desktop edit failed"
Clone the gold image take a snapshot and push it to the pool. The pool will be editable again with new snap. Happens all the time for me.

We had the same issue and it turns out that someone had done a PUSH to the POOL and after that was complete we were able to update the Display name.
