Can you give more information about your setup ?

1. Are the hosts are under cluster ?

2. HA and DRS enabled ?

3. What is your vCenter server version and host version.

Hello @Sureshkumar M,

Thank you for the reply.

vSphere version is 6.7.

no the host are not under cluster

HA and DRS probably not enable, because all are under default settings.

Thanks

vMotion has no effect whatsoever if a host fails and you wish those VMs to be restarted on another host. For this to work, you need vSphere HA, which requires that you put two or more hosts in a single cluster and enable the HA feature. vSphere HA does not use nor rely upon vMotion to function. These are separate concerns.

In order to use live migration (vmotion), you need to prepare your hosts to use the feature , there are several requirements to make vmotion work.

Migration with vMotion

In case if you want to bring the virtual machines back to the two nodes with downtime, you may shutdown the virtual machines and register the VMs on other servers.

You need a vCenter atleast to use vMotion.

Just right click on the VM and select migrate and select the host you wanna migrate
