Is there a way to create a view that shows ping(icmp) test result from vROPS to a defined list of VMs?

You would have to use an EpOps agent to execute remote ICMP checks against those targets. vROps natively cannot do this.

Once you've installed an EpOps agent you can setup Remote Checks from Environment pane. After you setup those targets to execute Rremote ICMP checks you can for example create a scoreboard dashboard with object type ICMP check from EP Ops Adapter type and select metric Resource Availability to display all your ICMP ping checks.
