MS Office Licensing in VDI Environment

Hi,

I would like to know how office 2013/2016 licensing will work in Vmware Horizon 7 VDI enviroment.

As far i know MS office licenses are per device based license.

So if we create 100 VDI desktops with Office 2013 installed, we need to purchase 100 Office 2013 license?

Is there any subscription based license available for Office, same like OS Subscription?

Please help.

Regards

Ansar

Hi Ansar,

This post will help you further:

https://svenhuisman.com/2015/02/how-to-configure-office-365-pro-in-a-non-persistent-vdi-environment/

If link above ever breaks down, search for the following registry keys:

- sharedcomputerlicensing

If noted that sometimes when you want to activate, the password-prompt disappears as well.

Here you should use the following key: DisableADALatopWAMOverride

Commander

First deploy a KMS Server in your environment and add your valid licenses to the KMS server.

Then create a customization profile, in "Commands to run once" section of customization specification use following commands:

cscript ospp.vbs /sethst: Your_KMS_Server

cscript ospp.vbs /act

Then when new desktops of pool will deployed, KMS will automatically activate your Offce apps (also with VM Guest OS)
