Welcome to the Community,
Can you confirm that you are using the HPE customized ESXi installation image, which contains the required RAID controller drivers?
I have downloaded ESXi6.7 ISO from the Vmware website.
Server model: HP Enterprise ProLiant ML350 Gen10 server
CPU: 2x HP Enterprise Intel Xeon Bronze 3106 processor
RAM: 4x HP Enterprise 16GB (1x16GB) Single Rank x4
HardDisk: 2x 960GB SSD, 8.89 cm (3.5") , SATA III
NIC: HP 1Gb Ethernet 4-port 331i Adapter
Controller: Smart Array S100i SR Gen10
VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi ISO) image (Includes VMware Tools)
HPE - like other major vendors - provide a customized ESXi installation image with additional drivers, and tools. This image is available from the VMware website (see Custom Images), or you need create your own one by injecting the drivers into the native VMware image.
Anyway, the "S100i" controller is a so called Software RAID controller, which isn't supported. In order to use your disks/SSDs in a RAID set, you need a hardware RAID controller.
Thank you for your response. I will address the supplier for a solution. Thank you in advance,
The supplier offers a Raid Controller type P408i-a SR. Is this the best solution?
- P408i-a SR Gen10 raid controller
- HPE ML350 Gen10 LFF AROC Cable Kit
- 96W Smart Storage Battery (P01367-B21)
The P408i-a SR controller with 2 GB flash-backed write cache (FBWC), and the battery should work just fine.
Whenever you are looking for hardware, ensure compatibility with the ESXi version you intend to use.
