The esxi vm fails to start (operating system not found),

I couldn’t figure out why the vm machine in the screenshot below fails to start and says “operating system not found”

What might be the issue here?

lots of possible reasons. You could have corrupted the boot sector, you could have file system corruption, or you could be pointed to the wrong partition.
