VMWS15 - Win10x64 support for 2560x1080 ultra wide monitor

I have a Windows 10 x64 VM running in VM Workstation 15.1 Pro. I'm unable to get my VM to take full advantage of my 2560 x 1080 ultra wide monitor. I've tried using host setting for monitors as well as manually specifying the monitor settings. Either way the closest resolutions I can select are either 1920 x 1080 or 2560 x 1440. Is there anything I can do?

Here is the fix :

1. Open regedit -  Right click "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM", select FIND. and search for "VMware SVGA 3D".

2. Change "VidPNSource0Height" to hex 438  (In the key you will see the resolution value change to 1080 from it's old value)

3. reboot

4. Login and change the display settings as normal.

VMWARE KB has you search for vmx_svga registry, and add Resolution.x values, but this does not work as of 7-2020
