The error 'The SSL certificate of STS service cannot be verified' can also occur if the the SSL certificate is issues to FQDN of the vCenter node and you are using IP address to add the vCenter or vise versa. Try to add the vCenter using both IP address and FQDN, it should work with one of the address.

- Make sure vCenter and Skyline are having the same time.
- Check if you are able to login to vCenter server using the user which you are using for vCenter registration on Skyline.
- If the vCenter is configurred with external PSC, enable "Use Custom SSO Configuration"
- Check if you are able to connect to vCenter from skyline using the below command:
#curl -v telnet//<ip address/fqdn> <7444>

If you have followed the instructions, do check the logs for Skyline Collector.
Path to check the logs:
Share the error which you have observed.
Also check if the collector service is started.
