Workstation Pro 15

load as VM  iso Kubuntu 19.04 in host Win 10 Pro

screen is 800 x 600 so needed VM > Install VMware Tools. // but CAN NOT SELECT THIS IS NOT SELECT-ABLE [IS DIMMED]

WHAT CAN DO ?????

Install VMware Tools in Ubuntu or Ubuntu Server with a graphical user interface:

To mount the CD image and extract the contents:

1. Power on the virtual machine.
2. Log in to the virtual machine using an account with administrator or root privileges.
3. Select:
   
   For Fusion: Virtual Machine > Install VMware Tools.
   For Workstation: VM > Install VMware Tools.

Then restart the VM.

Hi,

In current versions of Linux the general advice is to install VMware Tools via your package manager.

The step above does just that and should be the correct thing to do.

I don't know why your menu item is not enabled.

Perhaps it still has to download the bundled vmware tools package, perhaps it is because you are supposed to install it using your package manager.

You would only install the bundled vmware tools from the menu if there are problems with the one provided via your package manager.

I installed from konsole Kubuntu 19.04

but still can Not change screen resolution other than 800 x 600

after pressing apply auto switch back to 800 x 600

menu item installl vmware tools still dimmed

In Workstation Pro  15 was problem

after tried in the same PC with

Workstation Player 15

and appears OK the screen big...

In Workstation Pro 15 still problem exist  // same Kubuntu VM

There's not much of a difference between the two.

VMware Workstation Pro has extra features under the View menu, center/stretch/autofit etc..
