UAG reverse proxy function stops working after a certain period

Anyone here who uses the reverse proxy function of the UAG? We are running into an issue where this function stops working after a certain amount of time (mostly within a few hours). The error entries in esmanager.log contain the following information:

ERROR wsportal.WsPortalEdgeService[getStats: 287][]: Exception message: io.netty.util.internal.OutOfDirectMemoryError: failed to allocate 16777216 byte(s) of direct memory (used: 905969671, max: 921174016)

This looks a lot like information described in this post: io.netty.util.internal.OutOfDirectMemoryError · Issue #7699 · netty/netty · GitHub

If this is actually the case I guess the developer of the UAG should be able to resolve our issue, but VMware support has not been able to resolve this yet.

We use a pair of UAG's which are load balanced by an F5, both give the same errors. After a fresh boot all websites which are reverse proxied work fine, but after a few hours they will become unresonsive...which will lead to red / orange errors within the gui of the UAG's admin pages:

A common problem with the UAG behind the F5 is that the health monitor will trigger the DDOS protection on the UAG. Try adjusting the health monitor to check less frequently or setting Request Time and Body Receive Timeout to 0
