VM Workstation Player (free) and linuxmint-19.1-xfce-64bit.iso

Trying to use linuxmint-19.1-xfce-64bit.iso with Work Station Player (non commercial).  I get to a point of:

      Annotation 2019-04-05 112957.png

When I tried to select the OS, the only option that would do anything was UBUNTU.  Just about everything else said it would not run.  I selected UBUNTU but renamed what was appropriate to Mint-64.

This Credential Guard thing appears to be way too complicated to me.  Do I need to somehow start over and this time do it the 'right way"?  And, .. what would that be?  Can linuxmint-19.1-xfce-64bit.iso even run under VMware Player??

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The issue you're hitting is because you have security features enabled on Windows that block 3rd party hypervisor applications from running.

To work around it, you must disable Credential Guard and/or Device Guard, just like the error message states.

The link from the error should provide instructions on how to do that.

Did you click it and perform the instructions?

Did your PC come from an employer, or did it come from the factory with this setting enabled?

Gosh, Mr. Mike.  Here it is a month later and I am just now seeing your kind reply.  I guess I was not notified.  It;s a moot situation, as I have given up on Mint.  TO MY KNOWLEDGE, the computer came from the factory enabled but that was several years ago ... W7 era.  Yes, I did click on the link and as I recall, it was way over my head.

I may try Mint again, but right now, I will start another thread as I am now trying VM Player with CLOUDREADY.  Having a few problems with that too.  Thank you for your time.  Now I have to figure out how to mark this thread as SOLVED.
