Can we enable Hot CPU Add in a VM through Power cli without Re-boot ?

Hi All,

Can we enable Hot CPU Add in a VM through Power cli without Re-boot? We want to enable for bulk VM's.

No, and a reboot is not sufficient, you need to stop/start the VM.

LucD,

I got it. Just like we did for VM HW version enabling and it requires shutdown and power on through script. Similar can we do this enabling Hot CPU add and during patching Window we will shut down the VM's instead of re-boot and power on all the VM's. In that case, what will be the script, we are planning to do from VM lists C:\temp\vmliste.txt

Note :- We are looking to perform on bulk VM's. I will prefer CPU and Memory hot add for both.

thanks

The link to the other thread I sent earlier contains a script that reads the VMs from a .txt file.
The poweroff/poweron would go the same way as for the HW upgrade.

LucD,

Do we need to apply to the specfic OS like 2008,2012 & 2016 ( Except 2003 which don't support)?

thanks

If you still have 2003, you should indeed exclude these.
