vRO appliance / Certificate renewal forVRO auth provider

Recently the certificate for our auth provider server expired. so the vRO application was unable to start  We have a 503 when try to access the index.html

From the Control Center , I can delete the expired one and then import the new one.. but I still have the below validation error and vRO is not starting.

com.vmware.vim.vmomi.core.exception.CertificateValidationException: Server certificate chain is not trusted and thumbprint doesn't match

What step I'm missing to do? is there any documentation on how to renew a certificate correctly??

Instead of importing the new certificate, could you try (using Control Center) to unregister the configured authentication provider and register it again?

I got the same error.  Re-adding the Auth provider was done after trying that with no luck
