Rightsized VM View with Creation Time

Looking to use the Rightsize VM View, but with the additional of the creation time property for each VM. I've been unable to find how to add it to the view as it doesn't appear to be selectable in the data for the view, but I know the properly is there.

Can you select a VM that is candidate for rightsizing in the custom view by using the greyed icon in metrics/property pane. After selecting the appropriate VM select the creation time property.

In addition to my previous post you may need to enable that property in the policy.

Not sure I follow. I select the VM in the list but I don't see any options for metrics/properties. Will this add it to the table view for each VM? I was hoping to get the value of creation time in the list for each VM so I can export it as a report.

So if I understand correctly you use the rightsize view under Optimize Performance? (See image below for location)

In this view it is not possible to add any properties as far as i know. What you can do as a workaround is to go to the View section under dashboards and look for the undersized or oversized view. Clone one of the views and look for the specific property in the data pane by selecting a vm candidate for rightsizing by using the grey icon next to metrics/properties field. After that you can use the view in the report. But I am not sure if the creation time property which you are looking for is available within vROps as a property.

Yeah I'm looking and I don't see any created property in the list for a selected VM. I know vRops keeps track of it but I'm unsure how to access it in a report.

The creation time property is available in the Object List widget. In the Object List you can add this as a column.

Is this what you are looking for?

If yes, you can do as workaround adding the metrics of the under/over sized views in the the Object List by adding them as additional column. You then have kind of a rightsize view with the creation time added as well.

Is this what you want to achieve?

It's very close to what I'm looking for. Now I'm just trying to see if I can filter the VM list by powered off/powered on VMs and VMs that are actually oversized (the view lets me do this) but I haven't figured out how to do it via a dashboard yet.

Just an FYI

Unless this has changed the creation time is the time the object was first created in vrops not vcenter. If your VMs were created before vrops was implemented the creation time will be the same for all VMs.

Thanks for the info sxnxr.

tps5: You can add Summary|Runtime|Power State as an additional column to see the powered off/on status on VMs.
