Absent SSD Flash Drive and Lost Data

SSD Flash Drive Absent and Disk Group Failed

My VM In This Disk Group by Police Low Disk Storage VM Policy.

Unfortunately My VM Lost.

But I Question. No Data in SSD Disk And Disk Magnetic is Healthy in Disk Group.

Is there a way I read and back data in Disk Group??

Hello ahmadmoazam,

Welcome to Communities.

"My VM In This Disk Group by Police Low Disk Storage VM Policy."

I assume by this you mean the VM had an FTT=0 Storage Policy - this has no redundancy and thus if you lose the only copy of it due to hardware failure then the data is not recoverable.

"But I Question. No Data in SSD Disk And Disk Magnetic is Healthy in Disk Group."

If the cache-tier device is gone then the Disk-Group is gone (regardless of whether you can see the HDDs attached).

"Is there a way I read and back data in Disk Group??"

Your only chance here is if the failure was logical (e.g. controller freaked out/controller dropped the disk) and not physical (e.g. hardware error on the drive).

Rescan the controller (#esxcfg-rescan -A) and note what you see in the vmkernel.log when this is performed, e.g. if the device doesn't appear or you see 0x3 0x11 (Medium Error) sense codes then there is no recovering from this.
