daphnissov Dec 11, 2018 11:19 AM (in response to JLOAIZA)6.5 U2d => 6.7 U1 is still not supported at this time. Anything earlier should be ok.

CERKYR Dec 12, 2018 2:03 AM (in response to Diego Oliveira)Hello,
Then If I run ESXi 6.5 U2,
I can update each ESXi server to 6.7 U1.
Is it correct ?If yes, I suppose that it's mandatory to stop and move each VM on a other ESXi 6.5 U2.
Do you think that the bug of VMware Remote Control will be fixed with the version 6.7 U1 ?
"Unable to connect the MKS: Could not connect to pipe \\.\pipe\vmware-authdpipe within retry period".
Unable to connect the MKS: Could not connect to pipe \\.\pipe\vmware-authdpipe within retry period
I have a doubt...

Diego Oliveira Dec 12, 2018 4:08 AM (in response to CERKYR)Hi
I didn't understand, you want upgrade vcsa or esxi?
"If yes, I suppose that it's mandatory to stop and move each VM on a other ESXi 6.5 U2."
Yes.

daphnissov Dec 12, 2018 9:51 AM (in response to JLOAIZA)I am not Diego, but as I told you above, anything past 6.5 U2 to 6.7 U1 is currently unsupported. Several users have tried this upgrade and it has failed. Therefore, if you are at any build past 6.5 U2--either vCenter or ESXi--do not attempt to upgrade to 6.7 U1.

7. Re: Can VCSA 6.5 U2 be upgraded to VCSA 6.7 U1 or has anyone done so with no issues?
Diego Oliveira Dec 13, 2018 4:17 AM (in response to daphnissov)Hello
Daphissov is right, the upgrade 6.5 U2D => 6.7 U1 is still not supported at this time.
"If you have already updated to vSphere 6.5 U2d you must wait for a future release of vSphere 6.7 to enable your upgrade path."
"But, It also provides an upgrade path from vSphere 6.5 U2 to vSphere 6.7 U1."
Under the Hood - vSphere 6.7 Update 1 - VMware vSphere Blog
Before you do upgrade, check your version vcsa.

8. Re: Can VCSA 6.5 U2 be upgraded to VCSA 6.7 U1 or has anyone done so with no issues?
CERKYR Dec 13, 2018 6:11 AM (in response to Diego Oliveira)VSPHERE 6.5 Ux >>>> 6.7 Ux
VCSA 6.5 Ux >>>> 6.7 Ux
It's not clear...Is it mandatory to have the same version between VSPHERE (ESXi) and VCSA ?
Is there any Compatibility Matrix including VSPHERE and VCSA ?Is there a risk to decrease performances after this kind of upgrade, even if the servers have been bought in 2018 (very young), but one of them is older ?
On my side I have DELL R740 and R620; I'm not sure that DELL will continue to build ESXi images for this kind of server.
We must also consider that the VM are alive and in production; a other risk too.
At the end, we must also consider the interest(s) to update the servers; what are the benefits ? More functionnalities ? Less Bugs ?

9. Re: Can VCSA 6.5 U2 be upgraded to VCSA 6.7 U1 or has anyone done so with no issues?
JLOAIZA Dec 13, 2018 8:17 AM (in response to CERKYR)Thanks everyone,
I was pretty sure i understood the paths but just wanted to see what every one else thought and see if anyone had actually tried it. It definitely fails when trying to upgrade VCSA from 6.5.U2+ so don't waste your time.
As far as DELL HW goes any server PER620, 820 family is not supported with ESXi 6.7. If you try and download ESXi iso from DELL support site there's no 6.7 version available for download.
Again thanks all for your input,

10. Re: Can VCSA 6.5 U2 be upgraded to VCSA 6.7 U1 or has anyone done so with no issues?
dfosbenner Dec 13, 2018 12:27 PM (in response to JLOAIZA)I wanted to jump in on this thread. I am running 6.5 U2d, and I found out "the hard way" when I tried to upgrade my VCSA to 6.7 that it is unsupported. Is there any way to know how long a wait until there is an upgrade path? Does VMware make estimates like 1Q, 2Q, etc?
I need to retire some older hardware at remote sites, so I was hoping to deploy new host hardware running ESXi 6.7, and avoid having to do the 6.5>6.7 upgrade later.

dfosbenner Jan 18, 2019 5:30 AM (in response to JLOAIZA)VMware released vCenter 6.7.0U1b yesterday, but unfortunately there is still no supported upgrade from 6.5.0U2d. Ridiculous.
"IMPORTANT: Upgrade and migration paths from vCenter Server 6.5 Update 2d and vCenter Server 6.5 Update 2e to vCenter Server 6.7 Update 1b are not supported."
