Host Windows 10 Professional 1809 -- Guest Windows 10 Professional 1809 with Docker

Hello,

how can i install, use Docker in a Windows 10 Professional 1809 Guest with VMware Workstation Player 2.xxxx ?

In the Windows 10 Professional 1809 Guest with VMware Workstation Player 2.xxxx i haven installed Docker for Windows 64-bit.

Container and Hyper-V is in the Guest enabled.

Docker is starting, is starting, is starting, but should not work.

My Way: Docker-Container unter Windows 10 installieren | WindowsPro

Nested Virtualization: Hyper-V in einer Hyper-V-VM installieren | WindowsPro

But this way will noth work.

Did we have a working howto?

Greetz

Greetings,

"Workstation Player 2.x" sounds very old. You should download and use the latest version 15 from here.

Which Host OS are you using, Windows or Linux?

Most likely this is not an issue with VMware Workstation, but there is something wrong with the Docker installation in the Guest OS.

Please diagnose as follows:

Right-click on the Docker taskbar icon and choose "Diagnose and feedback ...". In the window that opens click on the "log file" link.

Notepad will open with the log file. You should find helpful hints in there.

Looks like an issue with Hyper-V - the Moby Linux VM cannot be started or is not working as expected.

You may try to

1) Uninstall Docker

2) Remove the Hyper-V feature

3) Install Docker again (it will automatically add and configure Hyper-V)

On the other hand I'm not really a Docker (for Windows) expert, and you might have more success asking for support in a ocker specific forum (e.g. here).
