Writable volume to act like persistent disk in old school linked clones ?

I find writable volumes in existing form quite useless:

- UIA -> useless because it doesn't keep user profile and we do not want for user to install apps. Those who can have full VMs managed by SCCM.

- UIA + profile -> actually captures too much and are prone to various errors.

For me the ideal scenario would be that writable volume holds only a chosen user profile folder. Same as persistent disk hold user profile in case of linked clones.

Can this be achieved by tweaking snapvol.cfg and maybe batch files ? Is it supported ?

You mean a writable with profile only? The writable is attached on a user base so if you would have a profile only writable the profile would be the only thing in there. They used to have that option way way back but removed it. My guess is you should be able to tweak that and it is supported AFAIK. It's up to you what to collect in the writable.

Or am I mistaking your question here?

Yes writable with only the profile.

UIA + Profile just captures too much non relevant data. in my opinion.
