I'm setting up a lab infrastructure. I've got 2 ESXi hosts and a VCSA, all 6.5, running in workstation 15. I've imported and configured the VCSA. I can't get to it through a browser, it just times out. Reachability is ok, I can ping its fqdn, so DNS isn't a problem. There are no firewalls that could cause issues either. I've tried http and https with <fqdn>:5480 and firefox reports 'unable to connect'. When I ditch the port number, the browser times out. I've tried <fqdn>/ui and <fqdn>/vsphere-client. I've tried using 3 different PCs and I've reinstalled the VCSA 4 times. Having gone looking for answers I tried to ssh in and can do that ok. Posts I've seen tell me to check the running services, starting by running the 'shell' command, which fails with 'command not found'. i've tried running the command 'service-control --list-services' which fails with 'No such file or directory /etc/vmware/db.type'
I've spent 3 days on this and am one step away from putting a sledgehammer through my computers, so please can someone help with a solution
Thanks
Hi,
I think it's not installed properly or services has not started.
Check once reboot to VCSA server and check.

Hello,
Kind try the following to view the status of services: service-control --status
And check the status of the vSphere Web Client service called "vsphere-client", if stopped try the below to start it:
service-control --start vsphere-client
Please consider marking this answer "CORRECT" or "Helpful" if you think your question have been answered correctly.

Tried that, the following errors were returned

Perform start operation. vmon_profile=None, svc_names=['vsphere-client'], include_coreossvcs=False, include_leafossvcs=False
