How do I set a Machine Prefix based on membership in AD group?

We're using 7.4 custom forms vRA 7.4.

Have done this often but not using vRA machine prefixes because they're so limited. It's easy if using SovLabs module for custom naming. If you're interested in an example I can provide one.

I like SovLabs plugins but my management does not want to pay for it.  Hopefully they will change their minds on this next FY.
