How to view the Guest OS (VM) screen on a PC with ESXi installed

Hi All,

I want to install ESXi directly on my PC hardware and Windows XP as a guest OS.

how to access the VM screen directly from the PC where ESXi is installed, rather than from the IP to the Web Client.

I tried to find a way to do this and that on the Console screen by pressing Alt+F1 on the Host PC, but I'm not sure.

Please let me know.

Hi,

You can't, you need vSphere Client to access the VM.

Once you install ESXi on your computer all that you will see is the DCUI.

ESXi is a headless server. All you pretty much get is console access at the keyboard.

Instead, you'll want to get your favorite windows on that PC, and then VMWare Workstation on it to hypervise a Xp VM.

If that Windows PC is fairly nice and earns a reliability seal of approval, no reason why the Xp VM can't run 24/7 in a production environment. Afterall, doesn't take much to make Xp tick.

but I have to use ESXi because I need PCI PassThrough functionality for non-standard PCI devices.
