Dell Optiplex 7010 Ultra Small Form Factor
8 GB RAM
112 GB SSD
16 GB USB
BIOS version A22
I'm a SC student and I have an interest in virtualization and servers so I bought this PC second hand cheap to use as an experiment / practice server running ESXI.
I have followed the installation guide for booting of an USB detailed here: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.0/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-602-installation-setup-guide.pdf
I have enabled all virtualization options in BIOS.
Booting from UEFI.
Tested having USB and SSD as first entry in boot order.
I hope I have provided enough info. I've been searching on a fix for hours and most answers to their problems is that they don't have enough cores or RAM... I'm fairly sure I meet the minimum requirements.
I tried checking with the compatibility guide but I don't understand it
After booting the USB it loads all the files and then I get this message
I may have some bad news for you. ESXi is not designed/intended to be installed on workstation/desktop-class hardware but only servers. Sometimes it just won't work at all with said hardware, even if you use 3rd-party, customized drivers and modify the installation image.
