Host Profiles oddness

I'm trying to use host profiles to save some time provisioning multiple boxes, but even the most straightforward test case seems to create problems.

Using vSphere 6.5 vCenter and ESXi.

What I did, which seems correct:

* Configure a single host how I want it.

* Extract a profile from that host.

* Attach that profile to the cluster in which the single host sits.

* Check compliance.

* I then go to remediate. It shows "Compliant" for my host, with the green tick.

Where it gets odd:

I proceed to "Pre-check Remediation", expecting it to do nothing, but it lists a string of actions it will do including creating a new vnic, removing my mgmt vnic from the vDS, adding a new vnic using different settings (dhcp for some reason), and changing iscsi adaptor binding.

I went through with it just to see what would happen and sure enough it made these exact changes, totally screwing up my networking.  I tried to apply the same profile to a new, unconfigured host and I'm not sure what it did but it certainly screwed my networking for that host.

What's going on here, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance
