"Edit Notes" bug with vsphere web client ?

We use to use the notes field to keep plain text service information for clients which can be seen in the vmx files.

This was easy with the standalone vsphere client.

Now with the the web interface on the summary tab there is the "Notes" filed and an "Edit Notes.." link

This opens an applet with a text entry box.

Alas, this box does not allow mulltiple lines and it also adds strange characters into the .vmx files like 0A or 7C.

What is going on here?

When you add a second line in the VM notes, vmx adds <|0A> for its own formatting (which cannot be the same as GUI, always). However on the VM notes in the summary tab, the formatting would still be as required.
