Why vMotion require link on physical adapter?

Hello,

Why vMotion require link on physical adapter?

I get this error:

vMotion interface 'vss:Management Network' on the "Destination" host 'myserver.mydomain' does not have any operational physical network connections.

How to run vMotion without link on physical adapter?

Hi

Make sure ALL the ESX servers have the same named vmkernel port name and you are good.

This issue occurs when the network label of the VMkernel portgroup used for VMotion differs between ESX hosts.

If the same vmkernel is not being used for management and vmotion, disable/re-enable VMotion on the VMotion port group and see if that helps.
