SysLog Collector not available from vCenter 6.0 to VCSA 6.5

Hi !

I've just migrate our vCenter 6.0 (Win 2008) to the VCSA 6.5. I check some settings and there's something missing.

In vCenter 6.0 i had the SysLog Collector so i was able to centralize ESXi logs here.

But in VCSA 6.5 , there's no more this setting :

It seems there's something to do with Log Insight or something ?

Is there any "free" possibility to have this setting back again ?

Thanks all Smiley Happy

ESXi can be configured to send log files to a vCenter Server rather than storing them to a local disk. The recommended maximum numbers of supported hosts to collect logs from is 30. See http://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2003322 for information on how to configure ESXi log forwarding. This feature is intended for smaller environments with stateless ESXi hosts. For all other cases, use a dedicated log server. Using vCenter Server to receive ESXi log files might impact vCenter Server performance.

Use log insight. It’s free for 25 osi.

Using Log Insight is your best option, but act now because past 4.6 you won't be able to use your vCenter license and more as they're taking that option off the table which is sad.

RickVerstegen is this still working for ESXi 6.5 ? because I did it years ago on vSphere 5.1-5.5 environment but I thought it didn't work anymore.

It is mentioned in Forward vCenter Server Appliance Log Files to Remote Syslog Server article so I assume that it is possible.

If you want to be sure, i recommend to test in a lab, first.

RickVerstegen , i set up a Log Insight with my vCenter Licence (25 OSI as you said) but it seems really too much compare to my infrastructure size.

I'll check out if there's basic use and configuration for Log Insight.
