I'm looking for some help here to understand the vmtools service behaviour.
Will there be any impact if I restart the vmtools service on a production VM sever (Linux or Windows) during production hours ?

There *shouldn't* be, but obviously if you're using the VMware tools channel for any guest introspection or other services then you could have a blip.
