Cloudpod Architecture

Hello Folks,

I have a couple of questions about Cloud Pod.

1.) If I am using F5 for authentication and load-balancing what role does VMware Identity Manager play in the as presented in the cloud pod reference architecture?

2.) Is there a VMware or F5 guide for VMware View Cloud Pod? I cannot seem to find one that is up to date (I only find one for View 6.0)

Thanks!

Josh

vIDM is not required for CPA, it can be used but certainly isn't required

Hi,

1. It is not a required component but it can deliver an extra layer of security.
It will provide access policy based on location (internal/external), identity and in combination with mdm (even device posture).
eg. If you want to ask for two factor authentication when users are external or if you want to disallow some published applications for specific users based on location.

You can also add other SAAS/WEB based applications that support SAML/ADFS/OIDC, so users will have one point of access to all their applications.

2.There is a document for Horizon 7 architecture

From page 88 you have some references to F5.
