Unity

Is there any way to run non graphic intensive games in Vmware Unity mode without large amounts lag?

I am considering buying a new pc, and would like to know if there are any specs which could significantly boost the performance in Unity mode.

There are not enough details to go with in your question (your Workstation version, host OS, guest OS, graphics requirement) and generally posts about video lag can come across as both vague and subjective (i.e. what appears to be lag to someone may not be to another).

Anyway, you need

  1. Workstation Pro/Player 12.5.9 (the last update on the 12.x series) or 14.x
  2. VM virtual hardware compatibility version 12 or higher to support DX10 and OpenGL 3.3 core profile in the guest OS
  3. DX11/OpenGL 4.x capable graphics card preferrably discrete graphics from Nvidia or AMD as Workstation 12.x/14.x makes use of DX11 by default in a Windows host and OpenGL for Linux hosts to deliver the 3D accelerated graphics capabilities in the guest VM

Considering you will be a getting new hardware, the third point above is almost a given with the change in the host hardware.
