change drive letter of shared folders in VMware 10?

I have tried in vain to change the drive letter of the shared folders in my VMware10.

I share the desktop and and documents folders.

I attempted to use net use G: "\\vmware-host\Shared Folders" which I found in another discussion about this, doesn't work.

Some more information on the systems:

2 iMac's running VMWare 10, one VM with Win10 and one VM with Win10 and Win8 (an old XP PC)

1 MacBookPro running VMWare 10, with Win10.

I have a synology NAS and use WebDav to share files among all these machines.

I use NetDrive2 and have all the drives set up with fixed drive letters.

VMware shared folder drive letter will take over the drive letter of one of the NetDrive2 and remap the NetDrive letter.

I have tried every combination of booting and turning things on and off differently, no joy.

Any help would be appreciated.

Drive assignment are a Windows thing, not VMWare

  • Start up Fusion
  • Boot up Windows
  • Select (My) Computer
  • In Menu bar, select Tools
  • Select "Map Network Drive"
  • follow prompts
