Win 10 Migration to MacOS Sierra 10.12.6

Just got a MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 computer and as I used to use HP with Windows 10, I am looking for info on migrating Windows 10 to Mac. I do have an VMware Fusion 10 Pro License and already installed on the Mac. So far so good.

Looking at the link (Migrating a Windows PC to Run in VMware Fusion) which BTW doesn't seems to be updated since Page 2 Section 2.a and b doesnt reflect my Mac. File sharing isnt really where the article refers to, but anyways....

I downloaded VMware vCenter Converter Standalone from the link provided on the article, installed on Windows 10 and once it finished and tries to run, error below shows up....(attached).

Any idea of why I cant initiate the service? I`m running TrendMicro AV which was disabled during the install process. Is there any up to date article out there that helps migrating my Win10 to Mac with Fusion?

Thanks in advance.

So couple of things,

Converting a physical machine always results in a bloated, unstable virtual machine.  You're almost always better off building a new one from scratch (which you have to do with a retail Win10 license anyway - OEM can only be virtualized on the same physical hardware they were sold with).

You might try running the conversion in safe mode: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

that should shut down any problematic services.

I`m going to post this here just as a reference to other people. I was able to start the service. Looking at the event logs under system, it was complaining that couldnt start workstation service. Look at the workstation and it also complained that couldnt start due to the SMB2.0.

Enabled the SMB 2.0 through the command line sc config mrxsmb20 start= demand then was able to start Workstations service THEN was able to start VMware vCenter Converter Standalone Server.
