Windows Server 2016 host and brand new guest VM Windows 10 Pro version 1803 (64-bit): BSOD (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA)

As in subject.

BSOD occurs immediately at startup, after first shutdown.

Windows installation gets corrupted and won't correctly boot anymore.

I used the original MSDN ISO.

Previous version 1709 was (and is) working flawlessly with the same virtual and phisical hardware.

The VM boots in UEFI mode.

VMware Workstation Pro 14.1.1.

What's the name of the iso image you are using? I just have a try with "en_windows_10_consumer_editions_version_1803_updated_march_2018_x64_dvd_12063379.iso" however can not reproduce your issue

I just tried with the English ISO (checksums: CRC-32: 5c190447, MD5: 986e2e17cf6b0b49141cd15699768e6e, SHA-1: 08fbb24627fa768f869c09f44c5d6c1e53a57a6f, SHA-256: 2a7e8c918347f36c23dcbab9804aca5b88eaf8b118c7356b1d96ab771ecb017f, SHA3-256: daec5ef4b27f05f0069a8ee1411d1f33fdbb6ba4cd414daadc57e291a41ad32d).

Installs without problems and boots well, but as soon as I restart or shutdown/power on the VM I get the same BSOD:

Windows 10 x64-2018-05-11-11-24-39.png

I have a couple of VM with Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1709 that are currently running without problems, and tried a brand new install of the same version, too. All is OK.

Seems that problem is 1803 related.

Another thing: with Windows 10 version 1803 ISO VMware Workstation (v14.1.1 build-7528167) says "Could not detect which operating system is in this disc image" when I launch the "New VM Wizard".

No problems with 1709.

My Windows Server 2016 has an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T CPU, 32 GiB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 450 GTS.

My home rig (AMD FX-8350 CPU, 24 GiB, AMD RADEON R9 270, Windows 10 Pro for Workstation PC x64 version 1709) runs 1803 based VMs without problems (VMware Player, same version as Workstation).

Hello,

I only want to say that even latest Workstation version (14.1.2 build-8497320) didn't solve my problem.

Confirming that I see the exact same issue with Windows 10 Home version 1803 (64-bit) with VMWare Player 14.1.2 -- after installing the Win10 guest from the ISO and performing a shutdown/reboot, the guest gives a BSOD and the error message "Page fault in non-paged area".  Nothing seems to repair the issue for the guest after that.  (I've repeated the install numerous times, always with the same outcome.)

Same issue even with latest Workstation 14.1.3 build 9474260 and July 2018 updated Windows 10 Consumer version 1803 ISO.

I had the same problem even with Workstation 15.0.0, but it disappeared with Windows 10 Pro version 1809 "final" (build 17763.1).
