Is a ThinkServer LTO-6 Linear Tape Drive Supported on ESXI 6.5 ? Has anyone used it before ? I have not been able to add it as SAS device to a VM at all, and fear that it may not be compatible.

HI All,

I am trying to add a Tape drive ( internally installed to a VM on Vcenter 6.5. The tape drive is installed with SAS Cable directly attached to the Megaraid onboard connectors, for the following host: Lenovo ThinkServer TD350. When i try and attached the device as SCSI device to the already existing VM on the host in which it is installed, I am unable to as it keeps saying that there is no device that can be added, but i am 100 % sure that this device is present on the system as i can locate it on the hardware lists.

The Tape drive, that is currently installed is a ThinkServer LTO-6 Linear Tape Drive

Any help Whatsoever, will be highly appreciated. 😕

Regards,

None of these tape drives are supported as pass-through devices to VMs. Sometimes people get them to work with varied ability, though.
